What
about books?
I am an
avid reader (and listener) of books. I believe that the best
way for a vision impaired person to read books is to read eBooks
on a tablet.
You can
download them free from your local library using "Libby".
Download them to the same iPad or tablet you use for our low
vision reader! In fact, you can use low vision reader as a convenient
iPad stad while reading.
If there
is a book you just can't find as an eBook, you can use our low
vision reader bu raising the iPad holder to the highest position.
About
the Inventor
Necessity
truly is the mother of invention.I have had macular degeneration
and diabetic retinopathy for many years. I searched the internet
constantly for impaired vision magnification aids. I've tried
many of the less expensive ones, but was never really satisfied.
The ones I wanted were way too expensive.
So I set
about tinkering and came up with my Low Vision Reader.
I have also
written a book which is sold on Amazon called "How to build
the Stairway Valet" for us older people who can't comfortably
carry thinks up and down the basement stairs.

The
LVR is intended to provide a low-cost solution for
low vision people who have macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy,
or other vision impairments that impede their ability to read
the ordinary things you need in order to get through daily life.
Other
reading machines are large, stationery, bulky and
very expensive using their own proprietary magnification
electronic cameras and video screens.
Our
device combines the use of ones own iPad (iPad not supplied)
with an x-y axis table.
It
allows you to read letters, bank statements, credit card statements
and a variety of other reading material, at variable levels
of magnification. It is small, just 15 square , llight
weight, and portable. The X -Y axis tables lock in place for
storage and portability. An LED light provides proper illumination.
It
doesnt require an iPad with a lot of memory, a several
years old tablet will do. Even if the battery is somewhat rundown,
it can be used for this purpose when the charger is plugged
in.
A
special free magnification app (Super Vision+) is downloaded from the App store
to the iPad for use with this device.
Simple
but elegant design allows low-cost construction. Until you can
afford the $4000 model try our $349 version.
Ipad

What
about price?
Our current
discounted price for our low vision reader is $349.
Google:
"eschenbach
digital low vision readers"
to see prices for
Eschenbach, Freedom Scientific, I-See, Show 12, Opetec and many
others.
How
can se sell it for so much less? Our product is hand made, and
utilizes your own iPad. Why pay for a unit with its own proprietary
camera and display unit, when you already own a tablet with
excellent magnification capabilities, especially when used with
a free app designed by Massachusetts Ear and Eye Infirmary.
